What is Enhanced Visibility Workwear (And Who Needs It?)

Enhanced visibility workwear adds reflective details to everyday work clothing. At Liliana Hi Vis, that means work shirts, pants, shorts and outerwear with sewn-on reflective tape. This guide explains what those details do, their limits, and what to check before choosing garments for yourself or a crew.

Liliana Hi Vis garments are enhanced-visibility workwear and are not ANSI/ISEA 107 compliant. They are not a substitute for required high-visibility protective apparel. Check your employer’s requirements for the specific task and work area before ordering.

What does enhanced visibility mean?

Reflective tape returns light toward its source, such as vehicle headlights. Bright tape borders also add contrast against the garment. These features do not make clothing glow in darkness without a light source, and they do not guarantee that a driver or equipment operator will see the wearer. Lighting, viewing angle, obstructions, dirt and wear all affect visibility.

A garment can have reflective tape without meeting a high-visibility apparel standard. The words “hi vis” in a product name, a bright color, or the presence of reflective striping do not establish ANSI/ISEA 107 compliance.

Who should consider these garments?

Workers and teams may want reflective details on familiar button-up shirts, trousers or outerwear. Suitability depends on the task and the employer’s requirements, rather than a job title alone. A tow operator, delivery driver or landscape worker can move between work areas with different requirements during the same shift.

Do not assume enhanced-visibility garments are sufficient for highway, roadside, construction or other hazardous work. If your task requires compliant high-visibility apparel or other protective equipment, choose equipment that meets those requirements. Cotton fabric and long sleeves alone do not establish flame resistance, arc protection or protection from sparks.

What to compare when shopping

  • Fabric: Compare the fabric composition and weight on each product page. The 100% cotton shirt selection and polyblend shirt selection offer different choices for everyday workwear.
  • Fit and coverage: Check the product’s size chart, sleeve length and available body lengths. Leave room for comfortable movement without relying on clothing coverage as a protective rating.
  • Reflective details: Review the product images and available tape colors. Liliana Hi Vis sews reflective tape onto the garment; the tape does not change the garment into ANSI/ISEA 107-compliant apparel.
  • Care: Follow the garment and reflective-material care instructions. Check stitching and tape for damage or wear. A sewn attachment does not guarantee permanent reflectivity or suitability for every commercial laundry process.

Choose workwear with its limits in mind

Start with your workplace requirements, then compare fabric, fit, sleeve length and reflective details. Browse enhanced-visibility work shirts, work pants and outerwear for the available options. These garments remain non-ANSI workwear; reflective tape is not a promise of protection or compliance.
